We are just 17 days away from the 11th annual Race to Remember, and one could definitely say “the race is on.”
We hope you are getting ready to race, too. This year promises to be bigger and better than ever! We are already exceeding the amount of pre-registrations we had at this point last year, and we are brewing with excitement about the planned changes for this year’s race.
Last year was the first year we included a color aspect. However, as with all first-time experiences, there was much to learn. We have changed the flow of the opening color ceremony just slightly and plan to install three “color lanes” throughout the course. Those who want to participate in color can run through these optional lanes, where wonderful volunteers will be there to squirt the light, colored powder on them. Those who do not want color simply run around the lanes. All these changes are an effort to make the race easier and more enjoyable for everyone.
No matter what changes and improvements we make, we never want to forget the true reason we run. It’s all about celebrating life and helping others in our community do the same. Facing the end of life can be a daunting task for most people, whether it is the end of their own life or that of a loved one. It can overwhelm and consume our very beings to the point where we cannot enjoy the precious last moments we have with our loved ones on Earth.
We at Hospice of Marshall County – Shepherd’s Cove want to help everyone face the end of life with courage, confidence, comfort, and maybe even a little joy without having to worry about the details of medical care, pain and suffering, or the uncertainties death often brings. It’s a new kind of hope, and it’s one that everyone deserves.
All proceeds from the Race to Remember help others in our communities live, celebrate, and honor life. Words cannot express how grateful we are for the loyal support we have received from the community, especially through the Race to Remember.
Will you run this race of hope with us?
